C&C Rivals Basics: The Cost to Upgrade your Units

How much does it cost to upgrade your units in Command & Conquer Rivals?

There's three different types of units: Common, Rare and Epic. Rare units already start at level 3, and Epic units start at level 5. Below, find tables of the upgrading cost in both cards and credits for all three categories.

How to read the tables:
  • Level: The level your unit is at
  • Cards: # Cards needed to upgrade to the next level
  • Coins / Training: Cost for a single training (3 trainings max)
  • Cards & Coins cumulative: Total cost up to this level

Observations:
  • the credit cost to max out each unit type is nearly identical for each unit type (446-447,000)
  • whilst the number of cards needed for each higher level increases, the rate of increase reduces, especially for Epic cards – we can look at this by putting the cards needed for a level-up in relation to the total number of cards needed to get to the next level (full data in table below):
    • To upgrade an Epic card from L7 to L8, you need 15 cards, even though you needed just 11 cards up to there – so you need 136% more cards than you needed before in total
    • To upgrade an Epic card from L11 to L12, you need 120 cards vs the 206 you needed to get to get to L11, which is 78%
    • So whilst it might feel hard to upgrade your Epic units to L10, beyond that, they might upgrade relatively faster afterwards compared to your commons

  • To fully upgrade a unit to L15, you need:
    • 16,466 Common cards
    • 4,951 Rare cards
    • 656 Epic cards
  • This is a ratio of 3.3 Commons per Rare, 7.5 Epics / Rare
    • This confirms that ceteris paribus, the cloning vat in it's current state is best used for Rare units (cloning vat has a ratio of 3 Commons per Rare, 10 Rare per Epic
    • Of course, for your current need to get a specific unit to a higher level, this might not matter much

  1. FYI, it wasn't igorjkriger that gathered the data. The screenshot from that Reddit post is taken from JadeXyan's spreadsheet on the Terminus Shores discord.
