Razorback and Shade nerfed -- Balance Patch Feb/Mar 2020

EA thankfully, and finally, released a Balance patch. It's just changing two units, but it's the most important changes right now, and another patch seems to be coming in April.

Let's look at the changes:

Razorback Nerf

  • Vehicle damage reduced by 40%
  • Speed reduced by 14% from "Faster (8)" to "Fast (6.9)"
Razorback has been dominant in recent months, as it dominates infantry so much that many games can be won basically with nothing else than a wall of Missile Troopers plus a well-controlled Razorback. 

The speed reduction helps to catch it, esp. with units sich as Stealth Tank and Phantom. And other units like Pitbull will put more chip damage on it. Plus, the vehicle damage nerf is important: Before, it was beating a Buggy. 

Still, strong players all agree that Razorback is still a very strong unit after the changes. We'll likely continue to see it a lot in ladder and tournaments.


Shade Nerf
  • Cost increased from 40 to 60 Tiberium.
  • Health decreased by 7.5%
  • Reload speed increased by 25% from 6s to 8s
  • Stealth Mode refresh increased by +36% from 5.5s to 7.5s
  • Structure Damage reduced by -35%
Great changes. The nerfs seem hard, but if you compare it to Orca (80 Tiberium, no fancy things like Cloak and EMP), you'll figure that it's still a strong unit. But it's now possible to play Nod against Shade decks again. Which is great!
